Itinerary

Day 01 – Bagdogra / New Jalpaiguri – Darjeeling (93 kms / approx. 3 hours)
Welcome on arrival at Bagdogra Airport / New Jalpaiguri Railway Station and transfer to Darjeeling, Standing high in the Himalayas at an altitude of 2134m, ‘Dorje Ling’, or place of the Thunderbolt, offers breathtaking views of snow-capped mountain peaks, with the Kanchendzonga rising higher than all the others. Often referred to as the “Queen of the Hills”, it remains just as alluring with its tiny waterfalls, little villages and a narrow-gauge railway track. Surrounded by World Famous Tea Gardens and snow-capped mountains, Darjeeling remains one of the most exotic destinations. Graeme Westlake in his book ‘An introduction to hill stations on India’ refers to Darjeeling as having “A view Scarcely Unrivalled on Earth”.

Day 02 – Sightseeing of Darjeeling
Early morning visit Tiger Hill to see a beautiful sunrise and Himalayan Range like Kanchandzonga, Mount Everest etc. One can see the horizon changing colors just before sunrise and then the entire Himalayan range turn golden.  Breakfast at the hotel and proceed for city tour visiting Himalayan Mountaineering Institute(closed on Thursday) which was started by Tenzing Norgay after he climbed Mt. Everest, Zoological Park(closed on Thursday), Tenzing Rock, Gombu Rock, Tea Estate(from outside), Japanese Temple and Peace Pagoda.
Overnight at Darjeeling.

Day 03 – Darjeeling – Pelling (75 kms / approx. 3 hours)
Breakfast at the hotel and drive to Pelling. Located at a distance of 120 kms from Gangtok Pelling is another serene, mountain village which lies in the western districts of Sikkim. This village is situated at an altitude of 2000 mts(approx) and commands a spectacular view of Mt.Kanchenjunga. Overnight at hotel.

Day 04 – Sightseeing of Pelling
Breakfast at the hotel full day city tour visiting Khechipalri Lake, Rimbi Falls, Skywalk (Ticket on direct payment), Darap Village, Orange Garden and Rabtense Ruins. Overnight at hotel.

Day 05 – Pelling – Gangtok (127 kms / approx. 5 hours)
Breakfast at the hotel and drive to Gangtok. At an altitude of 1750m, Gangtok became the state capital in the mid 19th century and has undergone rapid development since then. The downtown area is dominated by huge government buildings decorated with traditional Buddhist symbols. Gangtok is also a resting ground for people traveling to North Sikkim. Surrounded by Monasteries and Orchids, Gangtok is truly a traveler’s delight. Later proceed for half day sightseeing in Gangtok visiting Flower Show, Handicraft, Institute of Tibetology, Do Drul Chorten. Overnight at hotel.

Day 06 – Gangtok – Kalimpong (83 kms / approx. 3 hours)
Breakfast at the hotel and full day excursion to Changu Lake which is 35 Kms from Gangtok at an altitude of 12,400 feet. The lake derives its waters from melting snows off the surrounding mountains Legends say that lamas could forecast the future by studying the color of the lake’s waters. Overnight at Kalimpong.

Day 07 – Gangtok – Kalimpong (83 kms / approx. 3 hours)
Breakfast at the hotel and drive to Kalimpong. At an altitude of 1250m, Kalimpong’ s location is ideal for a pleasant, relaxed getaway. Its clement weather has made Kalimpong’ s orchids and gladiole well renowned. Up to the early 1700s, the Kalimpong area was part of the Sikkim raja’s domain. In the early 18th century, the Bhutan king also took it over. In 1865, after the Anglo-Bhutan War , it was annexed to Darjeeling. Scottish Missionaries came here in the late 1800s. The town thrived as a wool trading center with Tibet till 1950s. Today it’s a quiet hill resort and a haven for retired people.
Afternoon sightseeing in Kalimpong city tour visiting Mangal Dham, Durpin Hill, Golf Course from outside and Cactus Nursery. Overnight at Kalimpong.

Day 08 – Kalimpong – Bagdogra / New Jalpaiguri
Morning Transfer to Bagdogra Airport / New Jalpaiguri Railway Station.

Note

  • Hotel Check-in and check-out as per hotel policy.
  • AC will not be operational when travelling in the hills
  • Vehicle is not on disposal but as per itinerary
  • Vehicle will be changed depending on local vehicle regulations and road / weather condition.
  • State reserves the right to close any tourist place if found necessary without prior notice.
  • Peak Period surcharge will be applicable for booking on public holidays, festivals, exhibitions and long weekends. The surcharge amount will be advised at the time of booking.
  • Please carefully note the opening and closing days of each of the sightseeing points given in the itinerary.
  • Most of the 7 sightseeing points in Darjeeling are closed on Thursdays, Forests are also closed on Thursdays, In Gangtok, Institute of Tibetology Institute of Handicrafts and handlooms are closed on Sundays.
  • Nathula Pass is closed on Mondays and Tuesday and is subject to the availability of permits from the army.
  • Guest need to carry valid ID proof to obtain special permits required for sightseeing
  • Hotels are very strict with the child policy. Please carry the age proof so that it can be produced when asked for
  • Toy train tickets & Cable car tickets are subject to availability & days of operations
  • This package is valid until 30th September 2024.

Terms and Conditions

  • Tiger Hill in Darjeeling cannot be guaranteed at the time of sunrise as there is a limitation on the total number of vehicles permitted to visit every day, in case the visit cannot be done early in the morning, the point will be visited anytime during the day.
  • For Tiger Hill visit coupons have to be obtained one day earlier from the traffic. As per the latest guidelines once coupon is obtained if for any reason tourists decide not to visit Tiger Hill, the coupon has to be returned to the traffic within 1000 hrs along with a note signed by the guest mentioning the reason why they decided not to visit. Due to this many times drivers get delayed to report for sightseeing, if this is not done by the drivers they are blacklisted from visiting Tiger Hill for 30 days.
  • Visit to Ghoom Monastery cannot be done while returning from Tiger Hill due to new traffic regulations, this visit can be done during the day tour.
  • Tickets for Toy Train can be purchased 120 days prior to date of travel as per railway guidelines, we would require full name, age and gender of all pax to procure the same.
  • Sikkim is plastic free as such plastic water bottles are not available/allowed in Sikkim. Guests are advised to carry steel/glass reusable bottles and they can fill RO/filtered water from the hotels.
  • Currently there is no extra certificate/RT PCR required to visit Bengal and Sikkim, however the guests are advised to be fully vaccinated and WHO approved vaccinated certificates.
  • However Please note: Time to time Government may change or modify the regulation & will be apply accordingly. We request you to kindly cross check this at the time of booking/operation also. Also note that due to Covid Pandemic some time authority will change the regulation at the last minute also.
  • Some Monasteries in remote areas are open to visit, but the visit is possible provided the caretaker is available as many times the caretakers move to other monasteries for prayers. Sikkim Inner Line & Restricted Area Permit

Important Information

REGARDING SIKKIM INNER LINE PERMIT ALSO KNOWN AS RESTRICTED AREA PERMIT

  • For entering Sikkim a normal Inner Line permit/Restricted Area Permit is required. This permit can be obtained on any one of the following procedures:
  • At the time of applying for the Indian Visa itself, the clients need to mention that they will visit Sikkim and accordingly a 15 days inner line permit/restricted area permit is stamped on the visa.
  • While entering Sikkim the permits can be issued on the spot at Rangpoo Check Post (while going to Gangtok) or Melli Check Post (while going to Pelling). It takes 20 minutes to 1 hour depending on groupsize. A serial numbered form at the check post needs to be filled and submitted along with photocopies of passport and Indian visa and 02 passport size snaps.

The following can be granted Inner Line permit/Restricted Area Permit to visit Sikkim ONLY by the Ministry of External Affairs, New Delhi or the Indian High Commissions abroad.

    • Foreigners travelling with Diplomat Passports/Official Passport like Red Cross etc.
    • Citizens from Republic of China, Peoples Republic of China, Pakistan, Myanmar, Taiwan, Nigeria.
